NEW SHOP IS COMING ALONG!

Stay tuned for the opening party.

SO MUCH ROOM FOR ACTIVITIES!!!

THE BUELL IS ALIVE!!!

After many months of part searching and ending up at dead ends we finally got everything done and back together. She had to have her cases split to replace the bearings and have new internals installed. I love this bike, but man did Harley really dick me when they stopped producing parts. A big thanks goes out to Ken Schmoldt and Dan Cox for all the hard work and research that wen into this project. You can watch the video on the facebook page. Sorry it wouldn't load to blogger for some reason.

Classic Jeep Tours Bronco Cage Make Over

Ed Quihuis owner/ driver of Arizona Classic Jeep Tours stopped by to see about giving this Bronco of his a new  look. Ed didn't like how the old roll cage was so high in the rear. He also mentioned that when his guests sit in the rear of the truck they had to crouch down to see under the canvas. Seeing is how he is running a touring company that completely defeats the point.  So that will way heavy on the design of the new cage.

Removal of the previous cage and prep work for new cage.

The new cage is completed using 1.750" x .120" American steel, notched and MIG welded together. The cage is held anchored to the truck by grade 8 hardware. The new cage has been increased from the original  4 point style  to a new 7 point setup. The increase in mounting points will help make the cage much stronger  which in return makes it safer for all the passengers in fact a roll over situation where to occur. A good piece of mind to have when one is out on a weekend  tour of the GREAT OUTDOORS of ARIZONA. The height of the cage has come down, but the viewing windows have been increased to allow for a better experience for the guests. By bringing down the overall height of cage it changes the trucks center of gravity for the better. This change will help give the truck better traction as well as added stability in the handling of the vehicle while tackling those obstacles out on the unbeaten path. All that is left is the paint which Ed got handled over at Space Age Paint and a new canvas molded to fit.   Thanks for the support Ed and we will see you out on the trials.

Metal Fabrication Tools - Garage DIY

This has been a pretty handy tool that's helped with a lot of my garage projects.

This is an M Tech manual tube bender that has been converted to an air/hydraulic bender. I used the Swag Off Road DIY Kit which allows an individual to mount the 8 ton air manual round bottom jack. It's great because it hooks to my 80 gal Husky compressor which feeds it steady pressure all day considering this needs a 110 psi to run the ram.

A couple projects this tool has helped me with; a truck bumper and a set of handlebars:

Sportster Tank Converted To Fit FXRS Frame

One of the tasks of being a fabricator is having to customize fittings for components that don't naturally fit together. For this motorcycle project, I made a 3.3 gallon Sportster gas tank fit a Harley Davidson FXR Frame. In order to make this happen, I had to cut the bottom half of the tank and replace it with a square tunnel and then create custom positioning mounts. Voila! This is how the tank fits and looks like...

...The last step- adding the glass sight gas gauge and petcock to finish it off.

Here, I started by out cutting out the bottom section (pic 1), made a fresh bottom plate out of 16 ga. cold roll steel (pic 2), and then drew weld guide lines on the main tank section (pic 3).

Next, I welded the seams, filled, and sanded the edges of the tank (pic 4). Lastly, I created and added the positioning mounts (pic 5 and 6)...

before adding the glass sight gas gauge and petcock (pic 7 and 8) and finishing sand.

Hole Shot Bars

Recently, a customer came to me with a handlebar design idea. He needed dimensions and have these fabbed up for his Road King. They turned out to be pretty beefy bars. The hole-pattern pieces had to be water jetted; big thanks to Donald for helping me out with that.

Bend-Tech PRO Review

Stoked on my latest purchase, Bend-Tech PRO. This program lets me design and simulate tube assemblies in 3D. gives me exact dimensions, and shows me how to get the most out of my material so there's little to no waste. My CAD skills are not extremely advanced, so this program comes in handy because it's super user friendly. The pricing is reasonable too, about $130-$275 depending the the version.

Yard Sale

Just some random stuff and some of my custom garage-creations I'm trying to sell with descriptions/price at the bottom of each picture (I've been threatened to have to watch every episode of every hoarding show on tv and see a therapist if I don't start selling this stuff). Pricing is definitely negotiable. If you see something you like that's marked "sold" or want to customize your own spectacular design, email or call for more information.
